Social & health education – nutrition, balanced diet, vitamin deficiencies, malnutrition & prevention.
Sociology & health – socio-cultural factors, urbanization, poverty & health.
Hygiene & health – personal hygiene, health care, avoidable habits.

Unit 2: Preventive medicine – principles of prevention & control of diseases: cholera, SARS, Ebola, influenza, ARI, malaria, chicken guinea, dengue, filariasis, pneumonia, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, drug addiction & substance abuse.

Unit 3: National health programs – objectives, functioning & outcomes: HIV/AIDS control, TB, IDSP, leprosy, mental health, deafness prevention, universal immunization, blindness control, pulse polio.

Unit 4: National health intervention – mother & child care, family welfare, tobacco control, malaria prevention, elderly care, social health programs, role of WHO.

Unit 5: Community services – rural, urban, school health, PHC functions, rural sanitation, urban health mission, health promotion & education in schools.

Biostatistics and Research Methodology Unit 1: Introduction – statistics, biostatistics, frequency distribution.
Measures of central tendency – mean, median, mode (pharmaceutical examples).
Measures of dispersion – range, standard deviation (pharmaceutical problems).
Correlation – Karl Pearson coefficient, multiple correlation (pharmaceutical examples).

Unit 2: Regression – curve fitting, least squares, multiple regression, standard error.
Probability – definition, binomial, normal, Poisson distributions, properties, problems.
Sampling – sample, population, large/small sample, null & alternative hypothesis, types of sampling, Type I & II errors, SEM.
Parametric tests – t-test (paired/unpaired), ANOVA (one-way, two-way), LSD.

Unit 3: Non-parametric tests – Wilcoxon Rank Sum, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis, Friedman.
Introduction to research – need, experimental design, plagiarism.
Graphs – histogram, pie chart, cubic graph, response surface, contour plot.
Methodology design – sample size, study power, report writing, protocol, cohort/observational/experimental studies, clinical trial phases.

Unit 4: Blocking & confounding – two-level factorials.
Regression modeling – hypothesis testing in simple & multiple regression.
Practical components – statistical analysis using Excel, SPSS, MINITAB®, R, design of experiments.

Unit 5: Design & analysis of experiments – factorial design (2², 2³), advantages.
Response Surface Methodology – central composite design, historical design, optimization techniques.
